Welcome to Mono Color Magic! I’m Bryan Hackenberger, the creator of this site and a long-time enthusiast of Magic: The Gathering.

My journey with Magic began back in 1994, with my first packs of Revised and The Dark. Since then, my passion for the game has only grown. Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in various formats like Standard, Extended, Modern, Commander, Draft, and Sealed Deck, each adding a unique flavor to my gaming experience.

Competitive play has been a significant part of my Magic life. From pre-releases to regional and state’s qualifiers, and even local card shop tournaments, I’ve enjoyed the thrill of the game at many levels. But Magic, for me, has always been more than just competition; it’s about community and connection. I’ve been fortunate to share this journey with several friends who’ve been playing as long as I have, and I’ve met dozens of others along the way. Some of these connections have turned into lifelong friendships.

Teaching Magic has been one of my greatest joys. I always keep a mono-green elf deck handy – it’s simple for beginners to grasp, fun to play, and, let’s be honest, it can pack a winning punch! I’ve introduced several friends to Magic and have had the pleasure of guiding them through their first steps into this entertaining world.

Now, as a husband and father of five, my love for Magic has taken on a new dimension. Teaching two of my boys how to play has been a heartwarming experience. Watching their excitement during trips to the card shop and seeing them develop their decks reminds me of my early days with the game.

Mono Color Magic was born from a desire to share this incredible game with as many people as possible. Whether you’re new to Magic or a seasoned player, I’m here to guide you through the joys of mono-colored decks and to share insights and strategies that have enriched my gaming experience over decades.
